Anyone travelling along the main road nearby can’t fail but be struck by this impressive edifice. Like Clough it was built by the Non-Subscribers after they lost control, in the courts, of the original eighteenth-century meeting-house. It was opened in 1846 with an impressive classical frontage, although the interior of this large church building is rather more plain but with a high pulpit situated behind the organ.
